C-TRAN Board to Make Decision on Service Reduction Plan December 14
For immediate release: November 30, 2004
Vancouver, WA: On Tuesday, December 14, the C-TRAN Board of Directors is scheduled to vote on the Service Reduction Plan that calls for a 46% reduction in current service levels. The reduction is necessitated by the November 2 rejection of C-TRAN’s Proposition 1 which asked for a sales tax increase of three cents for every ten dollar purchase. The minor increase would have helped maintain C-TRAN’s current levels of transit service and provide for some enhancements that would reconnect Clark County communities. At the November 16 Public Hearing, the C-TRAN Board heard public testimony from nearly 100 individuals and received over 400 written comments explaining the impacts of the reduction. After further discussion, the Board elected to defer a decision on the adoption of the plan until its December meeting.
C-TRAN’s Board of Directors will meet on Tuesday, December 14 at the Public Service Center, located at 1300 Franklin Street in downtown Vancouver. The meeting will begin at 5:15 p.m. in the Board of Clark County Commissioners Hearing Room located on the 6th floor. The public is welcome to attend the meeting; however, the public comment period has expired so no public testimony on the Service Reduction Plan will be accepted.
