Decision on C-TRAN Service Reduction Plan Deferred until December 14

For immediate release: November 17, 2004

Vancouver, WA: At last night’s public hearing, the C-TRAN Board of Directors heard from nearly 100 individuals, with hundreds more in attendance. In order to allow everyone who wanted to speak an opportunity to do so, the public hearing went very late into the evening.

After further discussion, the C-TRAN Board of Directors elected to defer a decision on the adoption of C-TRAN’s Service Reduction Plan until its next regularly scheduled meeting on December 14, 2004 at 5:15 p.m.; location to be announced. There will not be a public hearing at the December 14 Board Meeting; no spoken testimony will be accepted.

However, written public testimony will be accepted through 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 23. Testimony can be mailed to:

C-TRAN Public Testimony
P.O. Box 2529
Vancouver, WA 98668

or send email to: custcmts@c-tran.org

Yesterday’s public hearing was necessitated by the November 2 rejection of C-TRAN’s Proposition 1 which asked for a sales tax increase of three tenths of one percent. The increase would have helped maintain C-TRAN’s current levels of transit service and provide for some enhancements that would reconnect Clark County communities.

C-TRAN’s Service Reduction Plan requires a 46 percent reduction in service in order to balance its current revenue stream with the level of service it provides the community. For more information, please visit C-TRAN’s web site, www.c-tran.com or call Passenger Service at 360-695-0123.
